The Sixers have acquired point guard Tony Wroten from the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for a protected second round pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.

Wroten, 20, was picked 25th overall by the Grizzlies in the 2012 draft after a one and done year at the University of Washington. The 6-5 guard averaged 2.6ppg and 1.8 assists last season in 35 games for the Grizzlies.

Wroten is scheduled to make only $1.1 million this season and $1.2 next year. His low salary leaves the Sixers almost $10 million under the NBA’s salary floor for this upcoming season.

  1. Does this guy have any upside? Yeah he’s young-ish and the price seems right but 2 ppg isn’t dazzling enough.

  2. The NBA has a salary floor that teams have to meet every season, he helps them get closer plus they can let him walk at the end of the season.
