Evan Turner, the team’s starting tweener until draft night, is confident going into this season…that he will get paid in the off-season.
Turner told reporters that he isn’t worried because he’ll “get money regardless” of whether the team extends his contract or he hits free agency this summer.
Turner has been the subject of trade rumors all off-season and there is a good chance he could be dealt before the trade deadline. The team has until Thursday to offer Turner an extension, though they aren’t expected to.
Though he can be versatile, Turner is a weak player according to those in the metric world, of which GM Sam Hinkie is a flagship member.
Nevertheless, the fourth year guard/forward its realistic about his future with the team and wasn’t really saying that to be cocky. By most accounts, he has embraced a leadership role and is working hard, you know, contract year and all.
